Attempted child abduction in Hampton Hill

An investigations been launched after reports of an attempted child abduction in Hampton Hill.

It's believed the alleged incident took place in St James Avenue.

Police say the 9-year-old girl is not physically injured and is with her family.

It's believed the suspected incident took place near the cemetary at around 9am.

Chief Superintendent Clive Chalk, Borough Commander for Richmond said: "Whilst we do not wish to cause alarm amongst those in the local area I would ask the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to us."

"I would also ask parents and carers to take the opportunity to remind their children how to stay safe."

"We would equally encourage anyone to alert police immediately by calling 999 if they are approached."

"Safer Neighbourhoods Teams in Richmond are continuing to work closely with local schools and, where necessary, have increased patrols."
