Check to see if you're entitled to free child care?

Parents are being reminded to double check to see if their eligibility for free child-care.

Two year old children in the borough that they may be eligible for 15 hours of free childcare from September this year.

The scheme, which promises good quality and flexible childcare, will be rolled out across the country to eligible children following their second birthday.

To be eligible, children must meet nationally set criteria and be registered with their local Children's Centre.

Cllr Christine Percival, Cabinet Member for Education, Youth and Children's Services said: "Given the escalating costs of child-care these days and the fact that many parents on lower incomes have been hit hard."

"I encourage everyone to see if they are eligible and ensure their child has the best start in life and can go on to fulfil their potential."
