Elmbridge Council are reminding people who bought a dog for Christmas not to abandon them.

15-week-old Jimmy and Lola were dumped in West Molesey, just days after Christmas.

They're just 2 out of the 11 dogs who have been reported as stray who have found new homes.

The other nine have had to be put into kennels.

Simple measures, such as chipping your dog, and keeping an up-to-date collar can help an animal get back to its owner.

Luckily, Jimmy and Lola have been found homes.

Councillor Glenn Dearlove, Portfolio Holder for the Environment said: "We do everything we can to take care of a stray dog. First of all we check to see if it's micro-chipped so it can be returned directly to its owner."
