Hampton Village Traders Association:

"Hello,

As you may be aware this year our Christmas Celebration on Sunday 2nd December.

Though the feedback we receive from those who attended previous Christmas events is almost universally positive, the one issue that is raised the most is the problems with traffic and the safety concerns this raises.

We have listened to these concerns and in response this year we are hoping to close Station Road, Ashley Road and Station Approach up as far as the Wensleydale Road triangle. This will really help improve pedestrian safety on the evening.

The closure of the roads would only be between 3.30pm and 7.30pm on the day of the event.

On Monday evening members of the Traders' Association went door knocking in the streets which would be most closely affected by any road closure and we're delighted to say that the response was overwhelmingly in favour of the closure. So a very big thank you to those of you we spoke with.

We very much hope you will lend us your support both for the road closure and, of course, for the event itself."
