There's been over 500 hundred vehicle break-ins across Hampton and Twickenham between the start of April and September this year.
Richmond Borough Council have said they have also had 216 motor vehicle thefts in the same space of time.
BMW's proved to be the car of choice for many opportunist thieves, accounting for 35% of the total cars stolen.
After this came Piaggio scooters and Honda motorcycles.
For vehicle break-ins BMW are again the most common, with Mercedes, Ford and Volkswagen.
Over £280,000 worth of possessions have been stolen from vehicles since April, with cash, credit cards, sat-navs, mobile phones and power tools being the main items.
Councillor Pamela Fleming, Cabinet Member for Community, Business and Culture, said: "Although figures do show that the number of thefts of and from motor vehicles has been dropping for the last few years nationally and locally, that is no reason to get complacent."
