Hampton Wick primary schools get more reception places

Richmond Council is going to spend £10.4m on expanding six primary schools in the borough and Hampton Wick will benefit from the project.
The expansion will increase reception class places by 90 over the selected schools, and Hampton Wick Infant and Nursery school will be part of the 10 year school places strategy.
The council's cabinet member for schools, Councillor Paul Hodgins, said: "Our primary schools have high levels of attainment and are understandably heavily oversubscribed, and we are working hard to introduce a number of measures to ensure that we meet the demand for high quality places for all children in the borough.
"Introducing bulge classes is only a 'short-term' fix. We hope that by instead adding permanent forms of entry in the areas of the borough that are struggling to meet the demand, we will provide a longer-term solution.
"I would like to thank the head teachers, staff, governors and parents of these fine schools for working so constructively with us to ensure that there are enough school places for their local communities."
All of the schools will have the renovations necessary to accommodate the expansion including work to classrooms and providing the essential facilities.
Do your children go to Hampton Wick Nursery? Have you tried to get a place in the past?
We hope this will be a big help to the nearby families.
