Work has started in turning the Jenny Lind pub on Hampton Hill high street into a KFC.

Earlier this year, the decision faced fierce opposition.

Chairman of the Deerhurst Cres. Residents Association, Stuart Hardy said:  "The signage was out of keeping and unsightly in a conservation area."

"After all the objections against this development I am surprised and disappointed that KFC are being allowed to set up in this manner."

M orr also commented on the Richmond Council website saying: "Hampton Hill does not need yet another take away, the signage is totally out of keeping with the look of the High Street, very very disappointed that this is going ahead."

Local resident Kerry Frank said: "We also feel that the proposed business will bring unwanted litter and debris to the high street, not to mention the vermin that would inevitably be attracted to the waste produced by such an establishment."

Walshingham Planning have stated that: "Collection of KFC litter would be undertaken in the car park adjacent to the property and on the High Street between Deerhurst Crescent and Windmill Road."

"Collections of KFC litter would also be undertaken in Bushy Park at the Hampton Hill New Gate entrance. The accompanying drawing shows the area where collection of KFC litter would be undertaken."
