In a bid to make savings, Richmond Council could team up with Hounslow council to deal with waste and recycling.

Richmond's contract is due to expire in October next year.

However, after this date a new contract could include Hounslow contract.

It's hoped that the should deliver greater savings through collaboration.

The Council now intends to serve a 108 day notice period confirming its intention to procure another waste contract and the possibility of a joint procurement process with Hounslow to commence.

Cllr Virginia Morris, Cabinet Member for Environment said: "Over the last nine months officers have been talking to other Councils to discuss possible joint working in the procurement of a new waste and recycling contract."

"Some subsequent market testing was done last year with other boroughs."

"It was recognised that there was strong potential to work together and investigate the possible savings that could be delivered while maintaining Richmond's outstanding rating as having one of the highest recycling rates in England."
