As fuel price rises, fuel is becoming more attractive to thieves.

So much so, Surrey Police has issued a warning following reports of fuel being drained out of cars in Thames Ditton, Weston Green and East and West Molesey.

The thefts took place towards the end of last year.

Elmbridge Neighbourhood Inspector, David Hollingsworth: "Motorists need to start taking extra precautions to secure their vehicles, especially if they hold a large amount of fuel."

"An easy way to prevent this type of offence is by fitting good lockable fuel caps and anti-siphon devices."

Police they're reviewing CCTV footage and Elmbridge neighbourhood officers will be increasing patrols in the area."

David added:"I would ask members of the public who spot anyone acting in a suspicious manner near to a vehicle and suspect they are committing a crime to contact Surrey Police."
