INS is very excited to announce that international statesman Lord Ashdown has kindly agreed to give a lecture on Wednesday, 14th November, followed by a questions and answers. In this fast-changing world, we look forward to a fascinating analysis of the global picture. This will be the next talk in a very successful series that has included Sir David Attenborough and Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
Paddy Ashdown is well qualified to speak about world events. Having served as a Royal Marines Officer, he joined the Foreign Office. In parliament he ably represented the Yeovil constituency, and became Leader of the Liberal Democrats in July 1988.
In 2002, he was High Representative and EUSR in Bosnia. During the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he was one of the leading advocates for decisive action by the international community. On return to Britain in 2006, he was awarded the GCMG for his work in Bosnia. In 2009, Paddy was appointed President of UNICEF UK.
Tickets, which include a buffet supper, are £32 each. Lecture only tickets are just £22.
