Half of workers in Richmond Upon Thames are women according to the GMB Union.
The 2011 Census of Population has revealed that 75,718 are employed in Richmond with 37,110 (49.0%) of those being women.
Overall, 15 out of 33 London boroughs women in employment make up half or more of all workers in employment.
In London as a whole the total number of employees in employment is 3,104,310. Of these 1,545,186 are women.
That is 49.8% of the total employees in employment in the capital.
That means the number of women in employment is slightly less than the 1,559,124 men in employment.
These figures are for all employees in employment including full time and part time.
Paul Hayes, GMB Regional Secretary said, "These figures show that for workers resident in nearly half of London's boroughs there are more women in employment than there are men in employment."
"Politicians should no longer think of men as the breadwinner. They should consider the impact on women's wage packets and their experiences at work when they propose changes to employment policies."
