It's been awhile since we reviewed local restaurants so we thought a little reminder of the best places might be helpful (plus it may help you decide where to take your Dad on Sunday!!).

The Ferry, Portsmouth Road

It doesn't look much from the outside, but this is REALLY worth getting past the strange purple paint and going for a meal. They have taken on an amazing chef and the standard of the food is something you would find in a top class city restaurant. The prices are pretty average e.g. mains from £10 to £15, but it is great to see a pub producing such great meals. It's a must for any local!

The Albany, Thames Ditton

Now, to be totally honest, if we're doing a review literally on just the food I'm not sure if this would get a mention. The food is ok, prices are good, but the standard of food seems to be different each time. However, if we consider the location and the feel of the place it does deserve to be in this list. Situated right on the river it is a fantastic summer spot for a glass of wine and bit of food. It's certainly nothing special on the food front, but if you're looking for a pretty venue that does food this is the place.

Ye Olde Swan, Thames Ditton

Very similar to The Albany, this is in a great spot. Right on the river, it's not as pretty but after their refurb last year they have built a great decking area which has seriously expanded the outside space. The food is standard pub grub and this one may tick the boxes for father's day as the Sunday carvery is buffet style and very good. It definitely feels like a pub and not a restaurant, but it's chilled and pretty cheap.

Pizza Express, Hampton Court

Sorry it's not exactly top of the end, but we all need a decent pizza from time to time! You may think this is just one of the chains and prefer the individual places, but this is good. It's right across the road from the palace so great if you've been out walking and fancy a weekend treat. The menu is what you'd expect, but it's very good value for money. Pizzas are tasty, hot and service has always been good. I've also been here for a big group gathering and they did well at serving us without much delay. For something simple this gets our vote!

We would love to hear your local favourites...send us your reviews!
